In Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's official visit to China, "China Bangladesh entrepreneur round table dialogue conference" was held in Beijing in July 4th.

Bangladesh is an important node on the "one belt and one road". China is Bangladesh's largest trading partner and Bangladesh is China's third largest trading partner and project contracting market in South Asia. According to statistics, bilateral trade between China and Bangladesh reached 18 billion 740 million US dollars in 2018, an increase of 16.8% over the same period last year, and China's stock investment in Bangladesh totaled 780 million US dollars. In the 1-5 month of this year, China's new non-financial direct investment in Bangladesh increased by 151% over the same period last year.

Gao Yan, President of the China Council for the promotion of trade, pointed out that in recent years, pragmatic cooperation in various fields between China and Bangladesh has been deepened. The two sides have actively implemented the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries during the visit of President Xi Jinping in 2016, and steadily promoted the "one belt and one way" cooperation project, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. The two countries have great potential in the fields of textile and clothing, Luqiao construction, energy and electricity, finance, agriculture and communications.

Gao Yan said that under the background of unilateralism and protectionism rising, China's opening door will be bigger and bigger, which will bring more business opportunities to foreign enterprises. China Council for Trade Promotion (CCPIT) is willing to seize the opportunity with the Bangladesh business community to organize more activities to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation and investment, build more platforms and achieve more pragmatic results.

Hasina said that Bangladesh has rich agricultural resources, and the export volume of agricultural products ranks the highest in the world. It has certain advantages in garments, leather manufacturing, shipbuilding and other industries. Bangladesh has ample labor force and broad market, and enjoys preferential export policies for the South Asian market, which has created favorable conditions for foreign investors. The Bangladesh government is vigorously developing information and communication technologies with a view to realizing the "digital Bangladesh" vision in 2021. In the future, the Bangladesh government will continue to push ahead with the industrialization process, build 100 special economic zones, and set up special economic zones for Chinese enterprises. It is hoped that Chinese enterprises will expand their investment in Bangladesh and actively invest in textile, leather processing, agricultural products processing and other industries, and explore new opportunities for Meng He.

The forum was co sponsored by CCPIT and Bangladesh Embassy in China. China International Chamber of Commerce and China contractors association jointly hosted about 150 participants.
