Industrial Cluster: Pakistan'S Textile And Clothing Exports Increased By 26.08%

Pakistan's textile and clothing exports increased by 26.08% in the first eight months of the fiscal year to $12.6 billion (July 2021 February 2022). According to the Statistics Bureau of Pakistan, the sharp depreciation of the rupee value and the steady growth of global demand have stimulated economic growth.

From July 2021 to February 2022, Pakistan's garment exports increased by 25.11% in volume and 20.54% in volume. At the same time, the export volume of knitwear soared by 33.86% and the volume by 4.75%. The export volume of underwear increased by 20.34% and the quantity increased by 17.28%. The export volume of towel increased by 17.26%, the quantity increased by 5.56%, while the export of cotton increased by 28.23% and 13.01%.

Among the major commodities, cotton yarn export increased by 34.40%, and that produced by materials other than cotton increased by 105.59%. During the reporting period, exports of cosmetic items excluding towels increased by 9.91%, while exports of tents, canvas and oilcloths decreased by 12.48%.

The import of textile machinery has increased by 78.52%, reflecting the expansion and upgrading of the textile industry. The import of raw cotton decreased by 11%, followed by synthetic fiber by 14.28%, and synthetic yarn and rayon yarn decreased by 6.29%. The import of old clothes increased by 46.82%.
