In order to enhance the ability of garment enterprises to produce environmentally friendly clothing so as to attract more overseas customers.


The sponsor of the project is Bangladesh garment cleaning Owners Association (BEOGWIOA), Bangladesh garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and South Asian Business Development Fund (SEDF).


The South Asian Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF) provides every possible assistance to industry associations to organize environmental assessments for 250 industry member enterprises, including washing, dyeing and finishing plants. The South Asian enterprise development fund also provides assistance to these factories to create an interactive database requiring environmental protection standards.


Environmental protection personnel of various garment and garment enterprises will participate in training for environmental assessment.

This will help the association regularly observe the situation.


According to environmental protection requirements, the investigation is still ongoing, and the best sewage treatment plant (ETP) will be identified.

Environmental assessment is likely to end in July 2011.
