Imported Textiles From Brazil
Brazil finance minister Guido Mantega recently revealed that it is unfair to deal with cheap textiles from abroad.
Levying taxes is a fixed tariff on specific products. In addition, Brazil has issued a series of measures to protect its manufacturing industry.
Guido Mantega also said that measures to levy taxes on imported textiles would be implemented in three months. This measure will help protect the development of the textile industry and increase employment opportunities. At present, the government has prepared relevant legislation and will apply to the world trade organization to obtain a temporary protective measure for a period of ten years.
Filho, President of Brazil Textile Industry Association, said that this measure would help to curb unfair competition. In 2011, the textile industry in Brazil lost 15000 jobs, which will not happen again.
In addition, Guido Mantega also revealed that the relevant protection measures may also be applied to other industries, but it did not specify what industries and when to implement.
