The 15 Trillion Dollar Market, Vietnam And The European Union Signed A "Zero Tariff" Trade Agreement.

In June 30th, the agreement on the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA) and the investment protection agreement between Vietnam and the EU were formally signed in Hanoi. This is the two comprehensive, high-quality and balanced interest agreement between Vietnam and the European Union.


The Vietnam and the European Union free trade agreement (EVFTA) is a very important agreement for Vietnam. It marks a big step for Vietnam to integrate into the international community. The agreement is also an important driving force for Vietnamese enterprises to enhance their competitiveness and enter the European market better.


It seems that Vietnam's clothing industry is hard to imagine.

Accordingly, after the entry into force of EVFTA, the EU will eliminate the 85.6% tariff, which is equivalent to 70,3% of Vietnam's exports to the EU.


7 years later, the EU continues to eliminate 99.2% tariffs on Vietnam, which is equivalent to 99.7% of Vietnam's exports to the EU. The remaining 0.3% of the total export volume is the EU's commitment to impose tariff quotas for zero tariff treatment in Vietnam.


Specifically, the textile and garment industry, the EU to eliminate 42.5% tariffs in the field, the remaining 3-7 years based on the process of adjustment.

From the point of view of trade and investment, the EU's commitment to Vietnam is also higher than the EU's commitment to WTO, which is equivalent to the highest level of EU's new free trade agreements. After the entry into force of the agreement, the EU will abolish tariff tariffs of 85.6% of Vietnam's exports to the EU, accounting for 70.3% of Vietnam's total exports to the EU.

Enterprises themselves should actively update relevant information on tariff concession, product origin rules and so on. At the same time, it meets the requirements of technology, labor and environment, so as to formulate long-term strategies, invest in technology and human resources, shape product brands, seek and cooperate with partners of EU Member States, and strictly abide by EU regulations on Trade and investment.
