UNIQLO Open Jeans Research And Development Center Innovative Technology

In July 9th, Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, a Japanese fashion giant, formally introduced the latest technology of water-saving denim garment manufacturing developed by Jeans Innovation Center, hereinafter referred to as JIC.

The technology uses the equipment of nano bubble (Nano-Bubble) and ozone washing technology. With the help of professional jeans designers, the quality of products and the effect of washing are guaranteed, and the water consumption in production process is greatly reduced. Compared with traditional manufacturing methods, this innovative method can save up to 99% of the water consumption of jeans during washing process, and can save more than 90% of the washing process water on average.

At the same time, they also used the "ecological abrasive" instead of the traditional pumice abrasives, and used lasers in the old process of denim, reducing the pollution of water and environment caused by the exploitation of pumice and the use of toxic chemicals.

In 2018, fast fashion group's fast fashion brand Uniqlo (UNIQLO) and high-end jeans brand J Brand's sustainable fashion series jeans used this kind of water-saving and environmental protection technology.

In 2020, the group plans to produce 40 million jeans with this new manufacturing mode, and is expected to save 3 billion 700 million litres and be able to fill 1500 international swimming pools.

JIC is located in Gardena, California, USA. They jointly develop fabrics with the world's leading fabric producers, and develop state-of-the-art production technologies. In August 2016, "magnificent ambition" reported that the fast marketing group founded the cowboy research and development center in the United States. (see the historical report: the two major environmental protection tools of the American cowboy R & D center: the ecological washing materials and laser fading Technology).

With the enhancement of environmental awareness, more and more consumers begin to pay attention to the transparency of the supply chain of apparel industry, and hope that clothing can meet the sustainable standards in the manufacturing process as much as possible.

JIC chief operating officer Matsuhara Masaaki (Masaaki Matsubara) said that the biggest feature of cowboy material is the need to use water and chemicals to produce an "old" lazy effect during the washing process. Although technological innovation is very difficult, they are able to retain their favorite old effects while minimizing the use of water resources and chemicals, while ensuring the characteristics of cowboys and achieving sustainable manufacturing. The purpose of the group's founding research center is to enable the whole cowboy industry to achieve environmental protection. In the future, they are willing to share this innovative technology with other companies.

Veronique Rochet, director of sustainable development of XXX group, has said that these innovative technologies are the first batch of the group's sustainable development and innovation. With the development of more green technologies, fast retailing will still bear relevant costs and will not be passed on to consumers.

In addition to introducing new technologies, executives from XXX group outlined future plans for sustainable development, including reducing the use of dangerous chemicals in the production process, guaranteeing workers' rights and interests, and buying cotton from sustainable cotton bases in 2025.

Starting in September this year, XXX group will reduce the application of plastic shopping bags in 3500 stores worldwide. They hope that next year, they can reduce plastic shopping bags and packaging in stores by 85%.

The increasing popularity of environmental protection and sustainable topics has made consumers more and more "picky". People began to consciously choose to buy products that have less environmental impact on the production process, and sustainable development has also become an important topic in the fashion industry. Since November 2018, "gorgeous" has regularly summarized the latest trends of sustainable fashion in the world, covering "recycling and reuse", "environmental protection packaging", "environmental protection new materials", "sustainable fashion brands", "sustainable fashion business providers", "sustainable supply chain" and many other subdivision areas, hoping to bring some inspiration for you.
