Industrial Cluster: The Total Cotton Output In Xinjiang Is Expected To Exceed 5 Million Tons This Year, And The Mechanical Recovery Rate Will Exceed 85%

The reporter learned from the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of Xinjiang Autonomous Region that the cotton harvest in Xinjiang this year has been completed, with the harvest progress reaching more than 99%, and the total output is expected to be stable at more than 5 million tons. According to preliminary calculation, the mechanized recovery rate of cotton in the whole region exceeds 85%.

"This year, cotton harvesting in Xinjiang is progressing smoothly, and all departments are closely coordinated." Tang Yiwu, director of the Department of Cropping and Pesticide Management of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Autonomous Region, said that nearly 7000 cotton pickers were put into the region to carry out mechanized harvesting, ensuring the progress of cotton harvesting.

All regions seize the favorable opportunity of sunny weather to reasonably allocate harvesting machines and tools. Departments and units in agriculture, rural areas, transportation and other areas set up special agricultural machinery trans regional operation shifts, coordinated the consultation of machinery harvesting situation, and the docking of operation supply and demand, opened up the blocking points of agricultural machinery transfer operations, and orderly promoted large-scale mechanized cotton harvesting.

In order to better manage cotton quality, this year, Xinjiang actively optimized the regional layout of cotton planting, guided all regions to withdraw from low-quality and inefficient cotton fields, and further concentrated cotton planting in 25 major producing counties, accounting for more than 90% of the region's output. The agricultural and rural departments set up 25 technical service groups, went deep into 25 major cotton producing counties, and carried out "one-on-one" cotton field management technical services. They organized cotton topping technology seminars and video scheduling meetings, cotton defoliant spraying site promotion meetings, etc., to ensure that the technical measures for cotton field management were implemented, and the cotton yield and quality were steadily improved.

Since cotton entered the harvest period, agricultural and rural departments at all levels have guided cotton farmers to do a good job in cotton quality control during the harvest period. In accordance with the operating specifications for defoliation and ripening of machine picked cotton, they have carried out defoliant spraying operations, improved the ripening quality, standardized the standardized operation of cotton pickers, and increased the control of "new and old three silk" to further improve cotton quality.

With the support of a series of powerful measures, cotton production in Xinjiang this year has shown a trend of more concentrated planting areas, steady improvement in quality and yield, further unification of fine varieties in the same ecological region, accelerated mechanization, intelligence and localization of agricultural machinery throughout the cotton production, and steadily improved the comprehensive benefits of cotton production.
