According to foreign news on September 22, according to government news agencies, Kazakhstan expects that the cotton harvest in 2023 will decrease by 17% compared with the previous year.

"The cotton output in 2022 will be 362000 tons, and this year is expected to harvest about 300000 tons. Harvesting will begin in late September," the report was released after a government meeting.

The only cotton growing region in Kazakhstan is the Turkistan region.

A government official said: "Since last year, the industry has been facing strong pressure from negative external factors, including the inability of the previous logistics chain to export cotton, the low demand of foreign traders for raw materials in Kazakhstan, and the low price of raw materials on the stock exchange."
